Job Title: Government Relations Director

Summary of Essential Responsibilities:

Work closely with PNWA staff, PNWA members, federal and regional officials, and Congress to address federal and regional public policy issues;

  • Represent PNWA in the region and before federal and regional agencies, Congress, the media, and the public;
  • Coordinate the work of PNWA members and others,
  • Prepare materials for Congress, federal agencies, regional policy makers or others; for communication with members, membership prospects, and others; for presentations by PNWA staff or PNWA members; for the press; for PNWA meetings, the newsletter, white papers, promotional materials, a web page and other communications;
  • Membership service and recruitment;
  • Assist in PNWA office operations, including information flow, data base management, communications, financial reporting and other office duties;
  • Travel frequently within and outside the region.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience;
  • Five years of government or government relations experience, or significant experience in Northwest navigation, energy and/or economic development issues.

Skills and Abilities: :

  • Develop, analyze, report, summarize, recommend and successfully execute a course of action regarding federal and regional public policy issues;
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals and groups;
  • Manage several projects concurrently;
  • Balance the needs of multiple interests.
